All in the family - CAL BENET

Family owned & operated

Cal Benet is the manor house of the Vall Cabré de Torroja del Priorat family that dates back to 1792, from the very beginning dedicated to the cultivation of vines, olive trees and nuts.

Inspired by nature

A red wine for all types of palates. A modern wine but with history.

From the D.O.Q. Priorat is one of the most privileged areas in the world to create wines with a unique personality.

Benet Vall planted the first vineyards that at the end of the 19th century suffered from the phylloxera that changed the face of the villages and caused mass immigration to the city.

To give you an idea of the magnitude of the tragedy, in 1893 Torroja del Priorat had 852 inhabitants, that were reduced to 700 seven years later. It currently has 153 inhabitants.

The phylloxera forced the vines to be planted again, a task carried out by Cristòfol Vall with the subsequent help of his son Modesto Vall. Ramon Miró continues to cultivate the land in the middle of the 20th century and expand the family property, a task that has been carried out by his son Carles Miró Vall for some years now.

Learning from the past to project ourselves into the future, this is the challenge that excites us and makes us “rooted in the future”.

Drinking from tradition incorporating new knowledge and new techniques in order to be more respectful and more careful with the environment that surrounds us, its people and their way of life.
